One of the first knitting businesses in my hometown (Vratsa) was founded by my family in the 30’s. The whole town was wearing their signature beanies and scarfs at one point in the past. When I was young, I remember how my grandmother always had a knitting project in her hands, different needles and yarn.. and in a matter of hours, there were beautiful things coming out of her hands. It was mesmerizing to watch. Pure craft.
As I’ve always been curious, she taught me how to knit at very early age so at this point I can knit patterns with my eyes closed and this craft of mine is one of my absolute favorites. Later, I also learned how to crochet and create original patterns in order to turn my imagination into reality and make others a bit more happy and warm. It is my way of keeping and respecting the traditions of my family, protecting our legacy alive in my own way.
